Sketchbook Compilations
I'm participating in The Sketchbook Project 2011. I'm not done with that sketchbook yet, but I compiled a few pages that are scanned already.
Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving!

The Girl & The Dress
I took some time off recently, and I focused a bit on cleaning up some daily sketches.
For some reason I started doing a Cinderella series for daily sketches earlier this month. I cut it short, due to a creative block.
I like the style and coloring of the Disney version, but the story is just so... dated. I know it's not the original story, but that one isn't much better either. And Cinderella was hard to modernize... Aka, not finished. Aka, I need more scenes. Cohesive ones.

The Lighthouse
This is a daily scribble from earlier.
When I was little I used to want to live in an abandoned lighthouse. It's probably because of this late 90s Turkish tv show that I used to watch. It was about a brave journalist who would get in trouble to find the truth. The characters/story were so endearing that I think I watched the whole series, which lasted for about three years. At some point he moves into a lighthouse, and I guess they shot that part WELL, because I kinda still wanna live in one.

My Friend The Cassette
Does anyone remember making mix tapes on actual cassettes? Recording songs off of radio stations? Having to listen to that same intro every single time you listened to that song, for which you actually had to rewind the tape?
Something was special about music, and something was special about mix tapes. I miss it.

More 3LL Fun
I recently had the opportunity to work on a super fun project with the super fun Three Legged Legs again. I was excited about style they were going for to being with, but was super happy to find out I got to do a color script for this extremely colorful spot. It is now on display on their repertoire, with a full breakdown of the entire process. Go check it out if you haven't already!

Also, there are a few projects at hand that should be fun to reveal later on, when I can.

I Spy With My Little Eye...
After a short break, I picked up my daily scribbles project from where I left. Here's a painting from round II.
In case you're wondering where these paintings are going, here's the link.
My college teacher's lovely wife came up with the idea, started this page, and handed it over to me completely. Thank you, Joyce!

BNS, Target Fields
Earlier this year, I got the pleasure of working at Brand New School, on their spot for the Target Fields Stadium in Minnesota. After weeks of hard work and a boat load of fun, we ended up with a short that we were all quite happy with. Target Fields, everyone!
I'll be updating with some of the work I prepared for the spot. Keep chekin ;)

No, I'm Not Dead
I promise I'm not! I've been focused on a lot of things that I couldn't postpone, such aspaperwork. And I promise I've been painting, I just didn't get a chance to post things.
First of all, thank you everyone who came out to Post Penumbra! It was really nice to see you all and catch up/meet you. The Upper Six Hundreds crew did a wonderful job at decorating/running/creating pieces for the show, and I'm super honored to be a part of a group who is so passionate and selfless when it comes to creating art. Here are a few images
Also here's an update on some of those daily sketches I've been doing. These are a lot of fun for me, and it's challenging because the more I finish the harder it becomes to actually come up with something.

I'll be updating more often now that I will be able to :) Hurray!

Wanderlust
Here's a piece for a group show I'm going to be a part of.
The theme is wanderlust, and I'll be providing multiple paintings for it, like my talented friend Romina.
The show itself is set to open on Friday, June 4th, 2010 and will run until August 5th, 2010, at the J+K Gallery in Los Angeles.

Will You Make Me A Monster Suit?
Just a part of my "daily scribbles". Some of you already know that I fall into the postless pit of doom and lamely forget updating my blog form time to time. To avoid that, I've started drawing/painting/scribbling something everyday, with the inspiration and guidance of the talented and kind Pascal Campion. It's been about ten days or so, and I'll be uploading them all soon. I started small (facebook), and I was encouraged to post them here since my friends gave me so much support!
Some of my friends at IF magazine asked if I could talk about portfolios a bit, so I did. I'm not even trying to take credit for it. I'm just going to say I had the luck to listen to some people who I have tremendous talent and experience, and I wanted to pass down that info to those who didn't get that opportunity.I think it's published this month.
I've also been invited to show with some reaaaaaally talented friends of mine, in Post Penumbra, organized by The Upper Six Hundreds. Those of you who know them are already expecting a grand display, but I have to say I went and saw what they were doing with the gallery space, and it's better than you can even imagine! the Show will be opening on April 24th, in Downtown LA. Please come by and say hi :)

Part Time Dreamers
Recently, I've had the honor of co-blogging with some of my buddies from Elastic. They were kind enough to put me on their invitation list for the blog they started.
Our last theme was flight, and here's the piece I've done for it. Go to Part Time Dreamers blog to check all the cool stuff everyone else has done!!

Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon*
I was ashamed to post a sketch after such a long absence, so here's a painting from a lil while back. This was super random and lots of fun.
I was a bit overwhelmed with work lately "etc, etc, etc!" (yes, it's a "the king and i" reference). Bah, I really need to make up for this long silence, and I will soon! Stay tuned.
*a really fun queen song.
