Ronald Searle In America

Matt Jones has put together an awesome auction to raise money to bring Ronald Searle's work to the Cartoon Arts Museum in San Francisco!

DvF, 2013

I was looking through my New York Fashion Week feed when I came across this lil piece by Diane Von Furstenberg. Her story as a designer is very inspiring, and I love that she can stay chic and current with the classic simplicity of her designs.

Animation Insider

I recently did an interview with the lovely Mike of Animation Insider. Here's a link, if you're interested in checking it out: http://www.animationinsider.com/2012/12/tuna-bora/

Now that the Holiday season is over, I'll get to figure out what I want to do next. Ideas for next years CTN perhaps. Exciting!

Catching Up...

Hi everyone! A lot has been going on so I've un-fairly neglected my blog for much longer than acceptable. Here's an overview of what I've been up to besides work:

Me and a talented brother team of Ara & Hovig Devejian redid my website! It was long overdue. It's still the same address, so feel free to check it out here: www.tunabora.com

Me and my talented friend Elsa Chang decided to have a booth at CTN Expo this year. It was a blast, and a learning experience. Thanks to everyone who stopped by! We met a lot of new people, saw familiar faces and got to put a face to some of the names we know from the internet.

I did some prints for the show. My awesome friend Christopher Lee, aka the famous "The Beast Is Back" hooked me up with some really amazing prints! He helped me find the right paper and personally attended to making sure my prints looked right. He's the best!

Then there was the sketchbook. 48 pages of black and white ink drawings, combined in a single book! This was suuper fun to work on.

Also we did an illustration book with Elsa! It's a flip book, so our sides are sectioned off and back to back. This book is now available online and in store with Gallery Nucleus, and Stuart Ng.

The show went splendidly, and we look forward to doing more conventions together in the upcoming year. I will be updating here and on twitter.

Then, our little book made it to the Cover to Cover show at Gallery Nucleus! The show opens tomorrow, and we'll be there to sign our books and meet awesome artists who stop by. Me and Elsa both have originals, and I'll have some prints as well.

It's super rewarding and I'm very happy that I was able to do these projects, but it was also quite stressful. The wonderful part of that was seeing how amazing the people around me are! So special thanks to Ara, for designing everything and rebranding my entire existence, Hovig, for spending so much of your time on helping me out, Chris, for being there regardless of whatever meltdown I was in, Keiko, Jen, Casey, Abe, & Andrew for being incredibly supportive. You guys are awesome!

There are no excuses for not posting, but at least I haven't been lazing around! It's nice to be back to normal though, now I can go back to posting more, hopefully. I missed it while I was gone.

Mr... Who?

It was really hot in LA (especially in my AC-less apartment) a few weeks ago, so hot that I couldn't sit down and draw/paint. This led me to sit down and make this lil guy (I know, what?) out of felt. I was finally able to stuff him and now he just needs a name. What are your suggestions?

Camel Boots

"Typical crazy person running around"ness from yesterday. I love the color "camel", and I love these boots. I try to wear them often, but somewhere between parking in awkward downtown neighborhoods and running around to make my schedule work, they always prove to be a less than perfect decision...
