Holiday Note

It's true that I said I wanted to break into random houses and replace everyone's gifts with coals. It's also true that I ruined Christmas, on Part Time Dreamers, a blog I have with some really talented artist friends of mine. Still, I wanted to see you all off to your holiday plans with on a sweeter note.
Happy Holidays, everyone! Hope the new year brings the best of all to you.

More Fashion!

I feel like I'm getting a little carried away with all this, haha. Still, this is so much fun! It's a great way to relax when I can afford to take a break from work. These are digital, I've actually done some india ink ones tonight as well which are waiting to be scanned still.
Hope you like it!

After A Short Break...

...I picked up my brushes and did some fashion type illustrations. There is a whole batch of them on a sketchbook, but I keep forgetting it in my car.
Personally, I find water-soluble media (inks, watercolor, and gouache especially) more capable of delivering these kinds of drawings/paintings better. I've seen really cool ones in pen, pencil and marker but there is something about your control over the consistency of paint that can't be matched. Sigh. I love gouache!

Whose Voyage, What Voyage?

The Voyage show is now concluded. The pieces are down, but there are rumors that there will be a round 2! Thanks you for those who came out, it was a great get together with so many talented people at once. We have Cecil Kim to thank for the whole production, and some really delicious food!

Snowball Fight

Here's a preview of the piece I have in the upcoming Snowball Fight show of The Nomad Gallery.
I'm very honored to be in the same show as so many artists I look up to!
It will take place on Dec 5th (Yes, that's this Saturday), from 6:00-9:00pm at the Los Angeles Meeting And Event Center on 10601 W. Washington Blvd.
I know this is super short notice (sorry!), but feel free to stop by and say hi!

On Eating

Everyone's way of eating is so interesting and gives away things about their personality in a very unique, compact way. I loved this man's attitude as he was preparing that bite for himself.

As you might guess after seeing the guy in the top hat, some of these aren't from life. But who cares?

I haven't lived...

Don't know why I haven't painted this before! Had a blast, even though I had to paint them twice due to photoshop crashing. Oh yea, that's why I don't have the guy who's eating his own guts...

One Day, An Ear Walked Into The Pub And Said...

Here's some work I've done for Three Legged Legs on a pitch for Vonage this summer. It was a pleasure to work with them, as always (check out their work if you haven't already!).

Look For This Cover (And no, I didn't paint it)

The cool people over at ImagineFX magazine featured some character development I've done on their 50th issue (and yes, that's this month). Many thanks to Claire, Roy, Beren and the whole team for their hard work.

The spread explains my process through The Witches, an amazing book by the incredible Roald Dahl. I picked this unique story to do some visual development on, including props and set design as well. You can find the related work on my website.

On other fronts, I'm preparing a new set of surprises (shhhh). Meanwhile, I should really scan some sketches. Yes yes.

I'm not gonna give away the story yet, especially since I'm revising it. Come back for more viz dev for the same story tho ;)

Culver City Sketchin

does anyone recognize this guy? hint: he's awesome.
I've been getting back to going to random places, opening up a new page and doodling.
Here are a few sketches from the last two weeks. There are a bunch more that I didn't have the time to sketch, but they'll be coming along soon.

I had to take a break from posting, because I moved. Lack of internet is worse than lack of water, I learned last week.

Also, me and a few friends of mine are having a show together at Liliya China Bistro on October 17th. The reception starts at 8pm. Please come by and join the fun :)

Oh, what?!

Sorry for the lack of posts, I found myself with a lot on my plate all of a sudden and didn't give enough love to the blog. Lame.
On the other hand, the nice people at Photoshop Magazin in Turkey decided that some of my stuff was worthy of publishing. Yay. Here is what the spread looks like.
If you're interested in reading (it's all in Turkish of course), you gotta go and buy one!
Buncha thanks to everyone for their hard work on this! Yay!

Back At It

Hi there! I've been meaning to put up some sketches, and I know I haven't done it on time, but it's because I wanted to work on them some more. So here's the first one! I finally sat down and did something with one of those figures.

Also, Comic Con and its preparations took some time. It was totally worth it! I had a great time and met great people there.
You can find the photos I took on my flickr page.
I'll be covering Comic Con 09 for Photoshop Magazin in Turkey, expected publishing date being September. So if you're in Turkey at that time, feel free take a look.

If you wanna read about me, pick up a copy of Photoshop Magazin's August issue. The lovely people there decided to interview me. Thank you!

For those who are in LA, I'll be having a solo show soon. REAL soon. So keep checking ^^

Thanks for reading!

Sketch Dump

Sorry for the lack of updates. It's the last stretch before grad show, so I'm busy dealing with framing, matting, new business cards, etc.
Here's some sketches from last term. I ran into them in an old folder as I was trying to make some room for the new stuff on my mini drive.

And something super random.

Old Peeps

are cute. Well, some/most of them. I think how you age is totally up to you.
I'm looking forward to being a crazy old lady who shakes her cane at the youngsters who are out of order.

Kid

I grew up with a lot of pets. It's one of those experiences that shapes a kid's personality, I think. If you have a kid, buy them a goose or something. Like right now.

Here are some doodles from a few days ago. I was about to pack up my stuff and go home, when I noticed I had a blue marker and some paper in front of me. It called, so I answered.
